An alliance that includes Canadians and Russians has reached a deal to buy General Motors’ European operations, the New York Times reports.

The Times notes that both sides are focusing on racial issues as the debate continues of Sonia Sotomayor’s confirmation to the Supreme Court.

The Los Angeles Lakers have eliminated the Denver Nuggets, ESPN reports. The Lakers will play either the Orlando Magic or the Cleveland Cavaliers for the NBA championship.

Jay Leno says “goodbye” to the Tonight Show, Reuters reports.

Only deep budget cuts can rescue California’s budget, the Los Angeles Times reports.
